How the tournament works
The 48 teams are split into 12 groups of four. The top two from each group advance automatically, along with the eight best third-placed teams, forming a 32-team knockout bracket: Round of 32, Round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final on July 19 at MetLife Stadium.
